The mini-series Band of Brothers is thought to be among the recommended war movies ever created. Influenced by the book by Stephen Ambrose, the 10 episodes detail the actual story with the soldiers of Easy Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Regiment of the American 101st Airborne. Episode one gets under way with their basic training at Toccoa, Georgia prior to being sent to England while they make ready for their role in the D-Day Assault in Northern France.

Episode 4 sees the roll-out of replacement soldiers into Easy Company and highlights the issues they have being accepted by veterans of D-Day as the men take part in Operation Market Garden.

The next 2 episodes deal with the build up plus the fighting at Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge. By this stage a few of Easy are at breaking point and this is actually the subject of episode 7. While World War II nears the conclusion, there is a final patrol for Easy Company. The horrors of war are underlined as the men find a concentration camp. The last episode sees Easy relocate to Austria where they capture the Eagle’s Nest high in the mountains at Berchtesgaden.

The series concludes with interviews with veterans and eventually identifies the men that viewers now know in the course of the ten episodes of Band of Brothers.
