Elizabeth Hasselbeck’s comments on Erin Andrews about the Dancing with the Stars wardrobe hasn’t endeared the “View” co host to many. Hasselbeck made some comments to the effect that Andrews’ stalker wouldn’t have needed to invade her privacy if he could have just waited to see her outfits. Saying these remarks were a bit insensitive is an understatement. It takes more than some short term loans for a truckload of mouthwash to cure the taste of foot-in-mouth after this sort of thing.
Elizabeth Hasselbeck’s Erin Andrews remarks
Elizabeth Hasselbeck suggested on Tuesday, May 4, on the View that Erin Andrews’ “Dancing with the Stars” outfits seemed to reveal too much. Instead of just saying something like “her outfits are a little skimpy” and then moving on, she decided that it’s acceptable to joke about the Erin Andrews peephole video incident and while everyone watched in horror:
“as inexcusable as it was for that guy to go in and try to peep on her in her hotel room … I mean, in some way if I’m him, I’m like ‘Man! I could’ve just waited 12 weeks and seen this,’ a little bit less, without the prison time!”
(This was from the Huffington Post). It would appear that no matter how rich a person gets, you just can’t buy common sense, or class for that matter. Ironically, those who are rich forget to display it often.
Erin Andrews isn’t amused at all
To respond to Elizabeth Hasselbeck, Andrews said her remarks were “a slap in the face to victims of stalking and sexual predators” after she appeared on Dancing with the Stars.
Elizabeth Hasselbeck apologizes
Elizabeth Hasselbeck apologized for her remarks on Wednesday May 5. She even got teary eyed during the apology. She doesn’t really seem sorry and people believe she only seems to be sorry because she is in trouble.
Where should the line get drawn?
The fallout of Elizabeth Hasselbeck’s Erin Andrews remarks will run its course and will be forgotten in due time by all. I guess all that matters is she put her foot in her mouth and realized she had done so. A person should not be afraid to lampoon the things that deserve it, but obviously, some things go a little bit beyond the pale.

Hollywood can’t do anything original, and that’s why Nightmare on Elm Street, another remake, is coming out. I’d invest instant cash myself into something at least marginally original and interesting. The return of Freddy, going by the Nightmare on Elm Street, is not going over well. It may be that even Freddy Krueger himself would be afraid to see the film, fearing embarrassment.
Ebert review slashes Nightmare on Elm Street
The Chicago Sun Times Roger Ebert is not pleased. Nightmare on Elm Street got two thumbs down in a Roger Ebert review . It bored him, and he didn’t mind saying it. “I stared at Nightmare on Elm Street with weary resignation.” He also mentioned an endless supply of teenagers “who are introduced, haunted by nightmares and slashed to death by Freddy. So what?” Remakes carry expectations, but that doesn’t mean they won’t be boring. (A movie with no surprises is boring? Isn’t that surprising?)
Rotten Tomatoes
The critics on Rotten Tomatoes don’t like it either. Most horror films, granted, aren’t Shakespeare. Rotten Tomatoes gave Nightmare on Elm Street a 13%. By comparison, North (widely acknowledged as the worst film ever made) has a rating of 12 percent. Not a pretty picture. Film critic Peter Howell said “There are a lot of things wrong with this remake of Nightmare on Elm Street, not the least of which is that it was made at all.” (Ouch!)
Maybe Freddie should stay dead
Remakes or reboots are a gamble. They aren’t always horrible. (Star Trek or Batman Begins were both excellent.) Though a review won’t determine how much people actually like Nightmare on Elm Street, it seems the remake about Freddy Krueger, the guy who kills you in your sleep, is actually putting people to sleep.
