She previously had overcome breast cancer, but this time, Lynn Redgrave lost her battle and passed on. After relapse and another courageous battle, the star of such popular films as “Georgy Girl” and theater performances including Tony-nominated “Shakespeare for My Father” and “Nightingale” has died, reports the Boston Herald. Redgrave was only 67 years of age. In her final moments, she was surrounded by her children Ben, Pema and Annabel at her Connecticut home.
Lynn Redgrave was known as an ebullient free-thinker
In roles like the lead in the Oscar-nominated “Georgy Girl,” Lynn Redgrave cut the stereotype of a modern woman with spunk and real character and came across as authentic and genuine. And Redgrave fought against cancer until the very end, said her publicist Rick Miramontez. The pain of her cancer battle could never extinguish Lynn Redgrave’s positive outlook, forged in flame. “The endless memories she created as a mother, grandmother, writer, actor and friend will sustain us for the rest of our lives,” wrote Miramontez.
Lynn is not the first Redgrave to die within the past 12 months
About a year ago, Lynn’s niece Natasha Richardson died after sustaining head injuries in a ski accident, then Redgrave’s older brother Corin passed about a month ago. Vanessa Redgrave, 73, lives on. Movie roles in “Gods and Monsters” and major stage parts in “The Constant Wife” and “Mrs. Warren’s Profession” were among other notable Lynn Redgrave performances. In addition, she appeared on such popular TV shows as “Desperate Housewives,” “Law and Order” and “Ugly Betty.”
Lynn and Vanessa Redgrave faced life differently
Vanessa Redgrave is openly politically and guarded privately, which is quite the opposite of her sister. She was quite candid about the struggles in her personal life, from a bout with bulimia that led her to become a spokeswoman for Weight Watchers to her ongoing cancer battle. She even wrote about that ordeal with her daughter Annabel Clark in the 2004 book “Journal: A Mother and Daughter’s Recovery from Breast Cancer.”
Her courage in the face of monumental physical adversity is beyond noteworthy. Those who knew Lynn Redgrave for her roles and for her person mount her untimely demise.

The Mother and Child Premiere on April 19 in Hollywood had stars coming out in droves to support the film. The talk on the red carpet turned to fashion, as is common in this day and age. Between the designer attire and one dress that appeared to have been worn backwards, there was no lack of conversation.
Kerry Washington stars in the film and dressed the part in her printed dress from designer J. Mendel. Sergio Rossi heels and golden clutch completed the look and were topped off by accessories that included a pink ring from Amrapali that stole the show. This ring was so large that observers could not help but comment on its beauty.
Amanda Seyfried arrived at the premiere wearing a dress from the Bodyamr Fall 2010 line. The purple and grey silk number made quite a statement. Perhaps this was because Seyfried appears to have worn the dress backward. The Bodyamr fashion show illustrated that the zipper should be displayed on the back, not front, of the dress. Seyfried did not star in the movie so perhaps dressing to attend the premiere was an afterthought.
The film had its New York premiere on April 26 with looks that were equally as stunning. Naomi Watts, one of the films’ stars, wore a simple and sleek combination of a black top with lace details and black cropped pants by Stella McCartney. A simple pair of black heels and a black clutch handbag pulled the classy ensemble together.
Kerry Washington looked as beautiful at the film’s New York premiere as she did in Hollywood, wearing a mini-dress from Zac Posen’s Fall 2010 collection. The lilac and black dress was slightly altered from when it appeared on Posen’s runway, now sleeveless compared to the sheer black sleeves it originally had. Washington polished her look off with a simple black clutch and black peep-toe heels. We can’t wait too see what she will put together for the The Joneses Premiere.
It is hard to believe that stars like Annette Bening and Samuel L. Jackson are considered “old timers” but it is a sad reality. Bening paired her sleek black pantsuit with actor/husband Warren Beatty and the two made quite an attractive couple. The always sharply dressed Samuel L. Jackson and his beautiful spouse Latanya Richardson also turned heads.
The film Mother And Child shadows the lives of three very dynamic women. The first is a health care worker still struggling with the decision to give her daughter up for adoption after becoming pregnant at 14 years old. The daughter has grown up and has become a successful lawyer, but the decision made by her birth mother has affected her life as well. The third woman portrayed in this film has made the life-changing decision to adopt after discovering that she and her husband are not able to conceive a child.
The anticipation surrounding this film inspired some amazing looks on the red carpet for both the New York and Los Angeles screenings. If the Mother and Child Premiere is any indication, this movie will be filled with stunningly beautiful women. Mother And Child will be playing in theatres everywhere on May 7, 2010.
