If you do karaoke at the bar down the street, you would have been well-prepared for American Idol last night. The Billboard Top Hits theme combined with Miley Cyrus offering her surprisingly good advice was a good place to start. Crystal Bowersox singing Bobby McGee turned out to be one of the very few bright spots in last night’s karaoke-like show, though. On American Idol, the judges seemed to be under the spell of the song and Crystal Bowersox, offering almost nothing but good reviews. Ellen was the only Crystal Bowersox Bobby McGee detractor, saying she felt she needed more of a connection.

The rest of last night’s American Idol performances

As good as Crystal Bowersox’s Bobby McGee was, there were 10 other performances on American Idol last night. Randy actually said that was terrible to Paige Miles last night, and the rest of the judges were just as harsh. 16 year old bundle of cuteness Aaron Kelly battled through tonsillitis, laryngitis, and a crush on Miley Cyrus to deliver a good enough to be safe version of “Don’t Want To Miss A Thing”. “The Power of Love” was powerful for Big Mike, and even though it was a little corny, he will be safe until next week.All lovers of 1980′s music got a treat when Casey sang “The Power of Love”.Siobahn blew the judges’ socks off once again with her signature screaming during “Superstitious”. The rest of the performers? They have all made it obvious they are trying just hard enough to get onto the American Idol Tour next summer, trying for a paycheck that will qualify them for installment loans for bad credit.

17-year old pop star Miley Cyrus mentors the American Idol Top 11

Crystal Bowersox added one more signature to her guitar last night – that of official mentor Miley Cyrus. The pop star Miley Cyrus may have been questioned as a choice of mentor, but she actually did very well. Between Big Mike’s big hug and a few very real snippets of inside knowledge about the music industry, Miley managed to keep the otherwise fairly boring American Idol Top 11 show somewhat interesting.

Crystal Bowersox’s big plans

As humble as she usually is, Crystal Bowersox is very certain that she will be safe on American Idol until next week. Crystal exclaimed that she had “big plans for next week!” at the end of her judging last night. What, exactly, these plans might be could be just about anything – the theme for the Top 10 on American Idol next week will be “Teen Idols”. FOX has not revealed if the “Teen Idols” themed American Idol will include artists who are the idols of teens, or teenaged artists. So we’ll just have to tune in next week to see what Big Plans Crystal Bowersox has for American Idol.
