We all know it: when driving in the rain, you must be careful. Speed down, drive slowly, turn the lights on, and use the wipers. If it gets really foggy, stop.
Have you thought, though, how many films have followed this advice on safe driving? What did those screen drivers do, to drive safe and to avoid accidents? And did they really avoid them?
Cue in Psycho. A girl steals thousands of dollars and has to escape. Where can she go? She drives on, and on, and on, getting more and more tired, and eventually has to stop by a motel. She is greeted by a rather handsome owner. Nothing makes us expect anything gruesome… even when she is in the shower, and we see a weird shadow slipping in through the door. For all we knew, the scene could turn out to be very romantic. But not in a film by Alfred Hitchcock. In a few moments the unfortunate Marion will be lying in the bathtub full of blood, supposedly killed by the motel owner’s mad mother. Ah, if only she knew there was no mother…
Is Rocky Horror Picture Show more or less dramatic than Psycho? It all depends on the point of view, but once again Brad and Janet came out of the car and walked through puddles to the castle where they were met by a large party of in weird costumes. And then they were greeted by Dr Frank-N-Furter who introduced them to his favourite possession… and a few other things.
Film directors, as we can see, have always used driving in the rain scenes to promote safer driving, on the one hand. The characters stopped the car, got out, and were soaking wet by the time they reached the closest habitat. On another hand, putting a character into the car and sending the rain pour down on them gave the director a license to thrill – or to kill, depending on the plot.
If we were to take any lesson from this, it would be about checking your itinerary, to identify possible stopping point on your journey. Indeed, the check-list of safe driving in the rain usually runs as follows: check your brakes, ensure your front and rare lamps work, take the tinted film off the windows, do not drive in the puddles, and do not park the car in the basement. But also check your route and identify the motels, B&Bs or guest houses where you could dine and sleep if the rain becomes heavier. In today’s world, you could turn to Google Maps to check the place where your possible lodge is located, as well as its website and existing customer reviews. Make sure that next time you drive in the rain and have to spend a night off the road, you do not get into either Bates Motel or Rocky Horror castle.

Here’s the thing…you can actually enhance your moving-going experience when you chose to go. Consider these picture situations:
Kid’s Movies: If you try to take a little kid to a kid’s movie it may be best to go on a Saturday afternoon. Whilst the reasoning might be obvious to you it dawned on me one evening when I was trying to take my 4 years old to the latest Pixar flick. You see, four year olds are rather antsy and talkative (especially mine) and when you and when you’re taking them to a kid’s picture where there are predominantly adults in the spectators – well the analogy of water and oil is good one.
I don’t wish to ruin somebody else’s movie experience but I want my child to have a fun time without me constantly having to correct him thru a movie. Thus, I have discovered that it is a far better thing to take a small child to the theater on Saturday afternoon. In this time the theater is full of other small children babbling and fidgeting. And the remainder of the crowd is far more comfortable (and tolerant) with the children in this developmental stage. Conversely, if you are an adult who wants to see a kids movie with at least young distractions go to the flick any time but Saturday afternoon – weekday evenings are best.
Date Night Movies: I am a large proponent of continuing so far childish distractions go to the unmarried – lots of time together is a good thing too. So date night movies should be planned with care. That is, if possible schedule a movie around a bundle of activities planned planned for the date. Are you planning dinner, roller-blading, drinks with friends, other activities? Historically , date nights are Fri. and Saturday evening with care. That is, you can break away, any time is a good time for a date. (Hint: want to see how your drinks with children? Take them to a kid’s movie on Saturday afternoon (above).)
Creature Features: I don’t care what you say horror films just don’t have the same effect when you exit the theater before 10:00 p.m. If wish to be spookier its best to go to that horror flick late-night, mid-week. Rationale: it’s just creepier to leave that late when there aren’t as many people around. Also, its better if it’s a bit cooler out. It leaves a better opportunity to snuggle if it happens to be date night *wink*.

Being able to hang a hdtv on the wall will entice many to buy this type of tv. Due to its slim, shallow design it can also be built into a wall with a plasma TV wall mount to help free floor space and to inhibit blocked viewing of the programs. Most manufacturers include stands to hold the televisions upright on a flat surface and sell a plasma TV wall mount separately as an option. Mounting the plasma tv to the wall can be cumbersome, and many consumers will not bother with it and choose just to use the standard mounting.
As with most electronic devices, plasma and lcd televisions will require wires. The power cord is will come with each set and all the digital devices such as the dvd , vcr, video games systems, and sound systems will need to be plugged into the tv. Most cabling can be concealed behind the television but you still might see some underneath unless they are covered by plants and furniture.
A lot of these devices come with wireless ports, however to replace all of them could run into some dollars and be hard to set up. Your plasma tv wall mount can be a neat and clean installation if it is recessed allowing you to hide all of the cables and wiring.
Mounting Support
It’s always better to purchase the wall mount accessory from the manufacturer to insure compatablilty. There are many adjustable mounts supplied by third party vendors that will perform well, but for peace of mind with an expensive piece of electronic equipment, it pays to have the one designed for that particular set.
Regardless of where the plasma screen is mounted the brackets will have to be secured to wood studs to avoid any chance of coming out. Most plasma tvs are relatively light they are still heavier than pictures and need to be securely fastened to the wall. Proper mounting hardware should be used so that the screws will firmly grip to the studs and will keep the tv from falling.
Many of the plasma TV wall mounts can also be adjusted for depth, allowing to top of the television to be slightly pushed out from the wall, making viewing from a lower alignment more suitable.

You might have wondered if there is a mode to download Family Guy episodes online for free. The reason you were wondering this might have been similar to mine. For Lost series lovers, it is taboo to miss the show when it is shown on TV. However, sometimes work, family, or other events get in the way preventing you from being able to see the newest Family Guy episodes on TV.
I searched for an alternative options to view TV shows that are more convenient for me and may also work for you as well. After some looking, I finally found a website that makes it possible for me to view my favorite TV series online for free. Here are a few of the positive things that drew me in:
1. Little to no cost – I know that my preferred prices are cheap and free.
2. Capability to watch Lost online at any moment that I choose. I am not required to be attached to the TV during the 30 minute to 1 hour time slot that the show is on. For me, the best time is after the kids are in bed. That way I have a better chance that the phone will not ring and there will be no child emergencies. Then again, something does need my concentration, I can hit the pause button and come back when I am free again.
3. Watch my favorite shows or my favorite parts over and over. It is especially nice to be able to review the previous episode in advance of watching the newest episodes.
4. The ability to download Lost.
Never again will passionate TV viewers miss their favorite Lost episodes. They can also watch the same episode all over again. Just picture, all those TV shows are just a easy click away. Hope this aids you to not miss your favorite show.

In today’s economy, pay television subscribers are looking for every way possible to stretch their dollar. One area you may want to consider is your cable television bill, as rates continue to rise in this industry. One choice to look at is satellite TV, specifically either Direct TV or Dish Network and the options they offer today.
Dish Network is the second largest satellite TV company, with nearly 14 million subscribers. Because of the heated competition in the pay television market, Dish Network offers great deals to new customers, in the hopes that they will become a long-time subscriber.
So where should you search to find the best satellite TV offers? The world wide web of course is a great place to begin researching satellite TV specials. At this time, Dish Network is offering a promotion which can get you started with satellite TV for just $9.99 per month. Now the customer should be aware that this is a promotional price on the Classic 100 bundle, which is normally priced at $34.99 per month. In addition, local channels are not included in this price, so expect to pay an additional $5 or so for local programming.
Now many consumers today are in the market for an all-inclusive satellite TV bundle? The item that would fit the bill in this case would be the America’s Everything Pak, which is offered at a promotional price of $72.98 for six months, and $97.98 per month after that. Included here is every cable television channel you can think of , including 31 premium movie channels like Showtime. Another great option is the Classic Silver package, offered at around $50 per month, with a $25 discount for the first six months of service.
Another great thing about satellite TV is that most of the equipment is provided at no charge. From the satellite dish to the HD DVR, Dish Network will set you up. Generally, you will only incur upfront costs if you desire to have multiple DVR units. In addition, the satellite TV installation process is a snap as well, offering free installation in up to four rooms in your home.
Why not check out the Dish Network promo offers available and compare them with what you currently pay for cable TV. Odds are you will be surprised at how much cheaper satellite TV costs.

Trekker or Trekkie:
A Trekker thinks that it is a shame that star trek has come to the end. As explained by Kate Mulgrew.
A Trekkie thinks that it is a shame that the crew of the Enterprise is being reassigned and their space ship is being decommissioned. As explained by Captain Janway.
Engineer Trekker: This person became an engineer because star trek is all about the science of engineering. An engineer trekker is easy to spot because they will always have a star trek screen saver on their work computer. Much of their technical writing will have a lot of star trek terms embedded into it – because that is how the universe works. When designing a typical building they will document locations for food replicators to see if the architect will notice the anomaly. They also always like to point out to anyone brave enough to listen, that most scientific advancements today were inspired by star trek – which we all know is true.
Scientist Trekker: See Engineer Trekker for details. Unlike the engineer, the scientist is obsessed with the science of the universe. This trekker is easy to spot in public as they will always compare a scientific fact with a star trek episode.
Alzheimer Trekker: Sadly this trekker can not remember the names of their spouse or children. Where they live and why they are here is a daily mystery to them. But one thing they can remember perfectly is every episode and every character of star trek. They instinctively know where to find the television set and where all the star trek DVD’s are kept. Very scary stuff, but comforting to know.
Closet Trekker: This person does not share his secret passion for star trek with anyone. Normally because most of his friends watch star wars. Outwardly they will tell their friends that they enjoy watching Star Wars and even display a few old star wars videos on their shelf to prove it. This trekker is easy to spot as they will always have a large screen television set in their bedroom where they secretly watch every episode night after night. Their closet will also be securely locked and alarmed because it contains their stash of star trek dvds and toys. Not much is known about the Closet Trekker but on rear occasions the odd one will ‘come out’ and expose themselves to the world. Very sad.
Porn Star Trekker: This little deviant loves to dress up in star trek uniforms and insists that his partner do the same. They carry out fantasy away missions of their favorite star trek characters but they always seem to end up being beamed back to their quarters. This trekker almost always prefers to act as a high ranking Starfleet officer and loves to dominate the fantasy.
Depressed Trekkie: Typically this is a person who has spent much of their life believing that star trek was real. They have recently been told by concerned friends that star trek is only science fiction (and good sci-fi at that too). They are now deeply depressed that they will never be able to one day join Star Fleet and meet Vulcan’s or trade with the Ferengi. This person also believes that the Easter Bunny is real but their concerned friends have decided not to add to the trekkers depressed state for the time being.
Focused Trekker: A focused trekker is a person that is only interested in one series of star trek. These are either the Original Series or The Next Generation Series. Typically these trekkers are easy to spot because they will have all their favourite seasons in both video and DVD format on the shelf. Other items will include toys, books and the odd poster. They believe hand on heart that one day their star trek collection will be worth a lot of money and is a prudent investment for the future.

His recent popularity and Oscar nominations has many entertainment, news magazine and tabloids scurrying for aninterview with Brad Pitt. His recent popularity stems from his newest film that received 5 nominations from several Awards ceremonies. In all probability the most coveted is the nomination for best actor from the Academy Awards. As a result many journalist are looking to procure an interview with Brad Pitt.

When Brad discovered he was not very well-read about how a computer works, this sparked plenty of comments on the Internet from fans and critics alike.

Dish Network recently released fresh programming bundles called Turbo HD. These packages are 100% hi def, removing of the standard definition channels. Is this new satellite television the best choice for your family?
Its a matter of what your looking for from your satellite TV company. Some folks want every single channel that is available. They don’t care if 10 of them are shopping channels, or that five of the channels are public access. They just want all of the channels.
On the other hand, many have grown weary of trying to wade through all of the junk on the television dial, looking for something decent to watch. For consumers who have recently purchased a new plasma TV, Turbo HD from DISH Network might be the right choice.
DISH Network currently offers three different levels with the Turbo HD package, those being Bronze, Silver, and Gold. All of these packages are made up of hi def channels only. Packages start at around $24.99 per month for the Bronze package. That programming package does not include your local channels, which costs five bucks more per month.
DISH also offers the Platinum package, which is an add-on service to any of the other TurboHD levels. The Platinum level is $10 per month, and adds on seven more HD channels such as MGM HD and Smithsonian HD.
One point of contention with some current DISH Network customers is they have not been allowed to switch over to the TurboHD packages. At this time, only new subscribers to DISH Network have been allowed to get the TurboHD only bundles. Existing customers can get TurboHD, but only as an addition to the standard package they already have.
A final consideration you should know about is how DISH Network is counting the networks included in the packages. For example, the Turbo HD Bronze setup which includes 44 channels, of which 24 are network channels, six are PPV, and 14 are video-on-demand channels. While that may be enough for some folks, many are accustomed to having a lot more content to choose from. One final note, the Turbo HD packages do not include movie packages like HBO or Showtime, so don’t be surprised when you have to pay an additional fee monthly for those commercial free channels. For more detail on these packages, check out the DISH Network Turbo HD review.

McG’s new Terminator film, Terminator Salvation, looks set to continue the trend laid down by Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and rejuvenate a franchise that many people had left for dead after the awful terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.
The trailers look fantastic, and the film is looking great. With the revelation that Sam Worthington’s character is actually a Terminator cyborg, it presents the idea that these cyborgs may not always know what they are. This rather conjours something of the Cylons from the modern version of Battlestar Galactica.
The new Terminator film has a PG-13 rating for US screens. This caused a rather shocked reaction from some people, which is understandable, but wait, is it still going to kick your backsides? The PG-13 rating is now rather more flexible than it has been in the past for a start, plus with the action of Terminator Salvation already being known to feature more robot action than bloody cyborgs, I think it is pretty safe to say that we’re still in for one hell of a Terminator flick.
It is clearly a valid new Terminator story and a very valid entry in the franchise. It may lack the foul language and gore, but those aren’t really bad losses. WB made the right choice here. It looks like with Terminator Salvation, there will be a lot of humble pie being eaten when McG finally gets to prove himself in such a way. I can’t wait!
The TV incarnation of the Terminator franchise, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, will sadly not be returning for a third season in the US, according to news leaked by EW. A source close to the show’s crew said: “It’s done. Everyone has pretty much known for a couple of weeks. Consider it cancelled.”
This is bad news for fans of the show, which, after a lukewarm response to the first chunk of the second season, had started to pick up steam again and regain lost ground. The show, which starred Summer Glau and Lena Headey, had been a point of much conversation and debate since its acclaimed 2008 debut. Many felt it kept hold of the feel of the first couple of Terminator flicks quite well, while still moving its alternate universe story along nicely. Either way, the Terminator story is far from over. Here comes Terminator Salvation!
