TurboHD Gold Offers More Hi Definition
Dish Network recently released fresh programming bundles called Turbo HD. These packages are 100% hi def, removing of the standard definition channels. Is this new satellite television the best choice for your family?
Its a matter of what your looking for from your satellite TV company. Some folks want every single channel that is available. They don’t care if 10 of them are shopping channels, or that five of the channels are public access. They just want all of the channels.
On the other hand, many have grown weary of trying to wade through all of the junk on the television dial, looking for something decent to watch. For consumers who have recently purchased a new plasma TV, Turbo HD from DISH Network might be the right choice.
DISH Network currently offers three different levels with the Turbo HD package, those being Bronze, Silver, and Gold. All of these packages are made up of hi def channels only. Packages start at around $24.99 per month for the Bronze package. That programming package does not include your local channels, which costs five bucks more per month.
DISH also offers the Platinum package, which is an add-on service to any of the other TurboHD levels. The Platinum level is $10 per month, and adds on seven more HD channels such as MGM HD and Smithsonian HD.
One point of contention with some current DISH Network customers is they have not been allowed to switch over to the TurboHD packages. At this time, only new subscribers to DISH Network have been allowed to get the TurboHD only bundles. Existing customers can get TurboHD, but only as an addition to the standard package they already have.
A final consideration you should know about is how DISH Network is counting the networks included in the packages. For example, the Turbo HD Bronze setup which includes 44 channels, of which 24 are network channels, six are PPV, and 14 are video-on-demand channels. While that may be enough for some folks, many are accustomed to having a lot more content to choose from. One final note, the Turbo HD packages do not include movie packages like HBO or Showtime, so don’t be surprised when you have to pay an additional fee monthly for those commercial free channels.
